Faculty of Chemistry of BUTBUT is the second largest technical university in the Czech Republic with a high reputation on the international scale and a tradition of 150 years. The high quality of both the research and teaching at BUT is evidenced by the University’s ranking among the international Top 500 best universities published by the Times in October 2006. One of the basic criteria for the above ranking is employability of graduates.
Public became aware of The Faculty of Chemistry in 1992 again when it re-started its activities continuing its long tradition. The faculty belongs to important faculties of BUT. Today the faculty has the staff of 155 employees. 901 students are enrolled in various bachelor, master and doctoral degree study programmes focused on both chemical and food branches. The alumni of the above branch oriented programmes are prepared to work in research, industry and for the positions of industrial and business management staff especially in chemical, pharmaceutical, building, consumer and food industries as well as in public administration.
This system of structured study follows the principles of the Bologna Declaration and corresponds to the European Credit Transfer System, which is evidenced by awarding the certificate “Diploma Supplement Label” BUT was accredited in July 2006 by the European commission.
The BUT Faculty of Chemistry (like the other faculties within BUT) is located at the very heart of Europe, in a picturesque Moravian city Brno . This cultural and industrial centre with about 400, 000 inhabitants disposes of excellent accessibility . The faculty is situated in the Czech Technology Park , an area of 120 hectares integrating education, research, business, industry and even leisure still being close to the city centre connected to it by many direct routes of public transport. Thus it provides its students, researchers and scientists with maximum comfort.
